It is frustrating when you fail in a way you thought you had outgrown. Same fear.

Abraham travels to Gerar and says that Sarah is his sister. King Abimelech takes Sarah, but God comes to him in a dream and warns him that she is another man’s wife.

Psalm 105 remembers how God protected the patriarchs when they were few and vulnerable, saying He allowed no one to oppress them and rebuked kings for their sake. That gives context for Genesis 20.

God is faithful and morally serious. He protects Sarah, warns Abimelech, restrains sin, and exposes Abraham’s deception.

Abraham fails to protect Sarah because fear controls Him. Jesus protects His people by giving Himself for them in love.

Name one repeated pattern you keep excusing. Ask what fear sits underneath it.

REFLECT & RESPOND

Key Line: Repeated failure often points to a fear God wants to heal with truth.

Reflection Question: What pattern in your life keeps returning because fear has not been brought into God’s light?

Practice: Write down one repeated pattern and the fear beneath it, then confess it to God honestly.

PRAYER

God, I am tired of repeating the same failures and calling them survival. Show me the fear underneath my sin. Thank You for staying faithful when I am weak.
