DAY 35: Exodus 16-18

What happens after the victory wears off?

In today’s episode of Five Minute Bible, we turn to Exodus 16–18, where redemption gives way to formation. The enemy has been defeated. The sea has closed. The song has been sung. And now the slow, grinding realities of daily life begin to surface.

These chapters introduce a different kind of test. Not Pharaoh. Not plagues. Not armies. Hunger. Thirst. Fatigue. Frustration. The threat now is not external oppression, but internal collapse. Freedom has been won, but trust is still fragile.

As you read today, keep this guiding question in mind:
How do I respond when following God feels harder than I expected?

Watch how quickly gratitude erodes under discomfort, how fear distorts memory, and how dependence is learned one ordinary day at a time. Victory does not end the need for trust—it exposes how much of it is still missing.
