0:05 Hi! It's day thirty-five and I want to talk about surprise guests. This happens a lot over the holidays. It might be a neighbor just dropping by with some cookies or it could be people who are stranded and need a place to stay for the night.

0:20 Whatever it is, plan on surprise guests. That will take the surprise out of it. There's not always a way to do this completely, but you really can be prepared for surprised like this.

0:31 Keep a few generic gifts like candy or comics for kids; candles or calendars for adults. Keep them wrapped and at the ready. Use color-coded wrap, stickers and ribbons to match the kind gift to the recipient who would love it. Keep them handy by the front door. You'll have something to hand out.  As far as those overnight guests, keep it in the back of your mind. How would you put things together tonight if someone were to show up? So much better for you to be a gracious host, than one who is so stressed out that you make your guests feel uncomfortable. Today's the day to get ready for surprise guests.
