DAY 41: Exodus 33-35

What happens after forgiveness—when trust has been shattered?

In today’s episode of Five Minute Bible, we enter Exodus 33–35, the uneasy aftermath of betrayal. The golden calf has been judged, but the deeper question still hangs in the air: can a holy God remain with a people who have proven themselves unfaithful?

These chapters slow the story down and press in close. God does not immediately move forward. He pauses. He withdraws. He tests whether Israel wants blessing without presence—or presence at any cost. What follows is one of the most revealing moments in Scripture, where God names Himself not primarily by power, but by mercy.

As you read today, keep this question in front of you:
What makes God willing to stay with people who have already failed Him?

Watch how distance sharpens desire. How repentance takes shape. How mercy restores what judgment exposed. And how God’s presence, once threatened, is graciously renewed—though never cheaply.

Read your Bible carefully, devotionally, and joyfully—and join us tomorrow as renewed hearts begin rebuilding space for a God who chose mercy over abandonment.
