DAY 50: Jacob Receives Isaac's Blessing

A lie usually needs more lies to keep it alive. One false sentence becomes a costume, then a fake voice, then a rehearsed story.
Jacob goes to his father and claims to be Esau. Isaac is confused because the voice sounds like Jacob, but Jacob insists he is the older son.
Romans 9 looks back to Jacob and Esau and says God’s purpose of election stood before either twin had done anything good or bad. That does not excuse Jacob’s lie.
God’s purposes are stronger than human sin, but He does not approve of deceit. He had already said the older would serve the younger, so Jacob did not need to lie for God’s word to come true.
Jacob receives blessing while wearing another son’s clothes, but the gospel shows something deeper and cleaner. Jesus, the true Son, takes our curse so we can receive blessing by grace.
Pay attention to one place where you are tempted to sound better, safer, or more spiritual than you really are. Tell the truth plainly.

God, I confess that I sometimes care more about getting what I want than being truthful before You. Expose the places where I use words to hide. Thank You that Jesus gives blessing by grace, not by disguise.
