Some meetings feel accidental until later, when you look back and see how many details had to line up. A conversation, a timing shift, a wrong turn, or a simple question can become part of something bigger.
Jacob comes to a well in the field, where flocks are gathered and a large stone covers the mouth of the well. He speaks with shepherds and learns they are from Haran and know Laban.
Proverbs 16 says a person plans His way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Jacob is traveling with a destination in mind, but he cannot control every detail.
God works through ordinary details without needing to announce every move. He guides through location, timing, conversations, and people.
Jacob’s meeting with Rachel continues the family line that will eventually lead to Jesus. God’s quiet guidance through ordinary events serves His greater promise.
Pay attention to one ordinary interaction today instead of rushing through it. Ask God to help you be faithful in the next conversation, task, or interruption.

REFLECT & RESPOND
Key Line: God’s guidance often looks ordinary while it is happening.
Reflection Question: What ordinary part of your day might God be asking you to handle with more attention and trust?
Practice: Enter one conversation or task today by praying, “Lord, establish my steps here.”

PRAYER
God, I make plans, but You establish my steps. Help me trust Your guidance in ordinary details. Keep me from anxious control and teach me to be faithful in the next conversation, task, and decision.
