Being unwanted can make you start bargaining for love. You think, “Maybe if I become more impressive, more useful, more needed, then someone will finally choose me.” Leah knows that ache.
The Lord sees that Leah is hated, or unloved, and opens her womb, while Rachel is barren. Leah gives birth to Reuben and says the Lord has looked upon her affliction, hoping Jacob will love her now.
Mary’s song in Luke 1 praises God for seeing humble people and lifting the lowly. Leah’s story echoes that same mercy.
God sees rejection that other people normalize. He notices Leah’s pain inside a home filled with comparison and favoritism.
Judah is born from Leah, the unloved wife, and from Judah’s line Jesus will come. That is stunning grace.
Notice one way you are trying to earn someone’s love or attention. Name it honestly before God.

God, You see where I feel unwanted, compared, or not enough. Help me stop trying to earn love through performance. Thank You that You notice the overlooked and work through people others dismiss.
