In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 2 Kings 1–5, where the prophetic ministry of Elijah and Elisha takes center stage.

Elijah confronts a king who seeks answers from false gods, showing that there is only one true source of life and authority. Then Elijah is taken up into heaven, and Elisha steps into his role, carrying on the prophetic mission with even greater visibility.

Through Elisha, we see both power and compassion. Waters are purified, oil is multiplied for a widow in need, a child is raised to life, and a foreign commander named Naaman is healed of leprosy. Again and again, God shows that His power is not limited to Israel and that His mercy reaches outsiders as well as insiders.

These chapters remind us that God is not absent in dark times. He is actively working through His Word, confronting idolatry, and bringing life where there is death.

If you haven’t read 2 Kings 1–5 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
