________________________________________

Few things expose us like being compared. Someone else gets noticed, praised, chosen, or celebrated, and something in us tightens.

Eve gives birth to Cain and then Abel. Cain works the ground, and Abel keeps flocks.

Hebrews 11:4 says Abel offered a better sacrifice by faith. That detail helps us see that the difference was not simply what sat on the altar.

God sees beneath outward religion. He cares about offerings, but He also addresses the person bringing them.

Abel’s blood cries out from the ground for justice, but Jesus’ blood speaks a better word. He is the innocent One murdered by sinners, yet His blood announces forgiveness for everyone who trusts Him.

Pay attention to one moment when someone else gets attention, praise, or an opportunity you wanted. Before reacting, name your feeling honestly to God.

REFLECT & RESPOND

Key Line: Anger becomes dangerous when you feed it instead of bringing it into God’s light.

Reflection Question: When someone else is chosen, praised, or noticed, what does your reaction reveal about what you trust?

Practice: The next time jealousy rises today, say one honest sentence to God before you speak to anyone else.

PRAYER

God, I do not always like what comes out of me when I feel overlooked. I can turn disappointment into anger fast. Please warn me before sin rules me.
