In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 2 Kings 16–20, where Judah faces both deep compromise and surprising renewal.
King Ahaz leads Judah into idolatry and political compromise, trusting foreign powers instead of the Lord. But the story turns when Hezekiah becomes king. He removes idols, restores proper worship, and calls the nation back to God. When Assyria threatens Jerusalem, Hezekiah doesn’t rely on military strength. He prays. And God delivers in a dramatic and unmistakable way.
Yet even Hezekiah’s story ends with a warning. After experiencing God’s grace, he shows off his wealth to Babylon, planting seeds for future trouble.
These chapters remind us that revival is possible, but pride can undo what faith begins.
If you haven’t read 2 Kings 16–20 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
