In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 1 Chronicles 11–15, where David’s kingship is established and centered around God’s presence.
David is crowned king over all Israel, captures Jerusalem, and gathers mighty men who display remarkable loyalty and courage. But the heart of these chapters is not just military success. It’s worship.
David brings the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem, but not without learning an important lesson. When the ark is handled improperly, tragedy follows. The second time, David ensures that everything is done according to God’s Word, and the celebration is filled with joy.
These chapters show that true leadership is not just about power. It’s about rightly honoring God’s presence.
And once again, they point us forward to Jesus, the true King who brings us into God’s presence, not through imperfect effort, but through perfect obedience.
If you haven’t read 1 Chronicles 11–15 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
