In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 1 Chronicles 16–20, where David centers the kingdom on worship and God’s faithfulness.
As the ark is brought into Jerusalem, David appoints singers and gives a song of thanksgiving that traces God’s covenant from Abraham onward. Worship becomes the heartbeat of the nation, not as performance, but as remembrance. God has been faithful, and His people are called to declare it.
Then in chapter 17, God makes His covenant with David, promising an everlasting kingdom. David wants to build a house for God, but God promises to build a house for David. From there, we see David’s victories over surrounding nations, showing that God is establishing his reign.
Yet even in strength, David is not perfect. Chapter 20 quietly reminds us that battles continue and that God’s work moves forward through both triumph and tension.
These chapters show that a kingdom centered on God’s presence and promises will stand.
If you haven’t read 1 Chronicles 16–20 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
