In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 1 Chronicles 21–25, where David’s failure becomes the place of future worship.
David orders a census, trusting in numbers instead of the Lord, and judgment follows. But when David repents, he insists on offering a sacrifice that costs him something. The site of that altar becomes the future location of the temple. Even in failure, God is preparing a place for atonement.
Then David begins organizing everything for temple worship. Levites, musicians, gatekeepers, all are assigned roles. Worship is not random. It is intentional, structured, and central to the life of God’s people.
These chapters remind us that God can redeem even our failures and turn them into places of grace. And they show that worship is meant to be ordered around God’s holiness and goodness.
If you haven’t read 1 Chronicles 21–25 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
