People build lives in different ways. Some build with image, talent, control, money, status, or the need to be untouchable.
Cain has a family and builds a city, naming it after his son Enoch. His descendants develop parts of human culture: livestock, music, and metalwork.
First John 3 warns believers not to be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and murdered his brother. John applies Cain’s story to the way we treat one another.
God allows human creativity to develop even in a broken world. Cities, music, tools, and family lines continue because His common grace restrains total collapse.
Jesus comes into a world filled with both creativity and violence. He does not build His kingdom through pride, revenge, or self-protection.
Look at one area where you are trying to prove yourself: school, sports, appearance, online presence, talent, or relationships. Write, “This cannot be my god.” Then ask God to show you one concrete way to use that area to honor Him instead.

Reflection Question: Where are you most tempted to build your identity on what you can do, control, or prove?
Practice: Write down one area where you try to prove yourself, then name one way to use it to honor God today.

PRAYER
God, I can build my life around being noticed, respected, or untouchable. Show me where pride has started to feel normal. Teach me to call on You instead of proving myself.
