DAY 70: Introduction to the Book of Deuteronomy

Deuteronomy opens with Israel standing on the plains of Moab, just across the Jordan from the promised land. Moses, knowing he will not enter the land with them, delivers a series of final sermons to prepare the next generation for life under God’s covenant. He recounts the wilderness journey, repeats and explains the law, and calls the people to remember God’s faithfulness and remain loyal to Him in the land they are about to inherit. Ultimately, Deuteronomy points forward to Christ, the greater prophet like Moses who perfectly fulfills the law and leads His people into the true covenant faithfulness God requires.
