In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 2 Chronicles 17–24, where we see both the strength and fragility of spiritual leadership.
Jehoshaphat begins with faith, sending teachers throughout the land to ground the people in God’s Word. There’s peace and blessing as the nation seeks the Lord. But compromise creeps in when he aligns himself with Ahab, showing how quickly wisdom can be undermined by poor alliances.
The pattern continues with mixed leadership, until we reach Joash. Under the guidance of the priest Jehoiada, Joash leads a renewal and even restores the temple. But when that influence is gone, Joash turns away, revealing that borrowed faith does not last.
These chapters remind us that spiritual momentum must be sustained by personal devotion, not just external leadership.
If you haven’t read 2 Chronicles 17–24 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
