In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading 2 Chronicles 25–33, where the cycle of pride, judgment, and mercy becomes even more pronounced.
Amaziah starts by doing what is right, but not wholeheartedly. Success leads to pride, and pride leads to downfall. Uzziah follows a similar path, beginning well but overstepping into roles God did not give him, resulting in judgment.
Then we meet Hezekiah, whose reign brings significant reform. He restores temple worship and trusts God in the face of overwhelming threats. His story is a bright moment in a dark trajectory.
But Manasseh reverses much of that good, leading the nation into deep idolatry. Yet even here, something surprising happens. When Manasseh humbles himself, God shows mercy and restores him.
These chapters show that no one is beyond God’s grace, but they also warn how quickly hearts can drift.
If you haven’t read 2 Chronicles 25–33 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
