In this episode of Reading Through the Bible Together, we’re reading Ezra 1–5, where hope begins to rise out of exile.
God moves the heart of Cyrus to allow the Israelites to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. What was destroyed is now being restored. The people return, lay the foundation, and worship with both joy and tears, remembering what was lost and hoping for what will be.
But opposition quickly arises. The work slows, and discouragement sets in.
Into that moment, God sends prophets to call the people back to the task. The rebuilding resumes, not because circumstances improve, but because God’s Word strengthens His people.
These chapters remind us that God keeps His promises, even after long seasons of exile and delay.
If you haven’t read Ezra 1–5 yet, pause and do that now, then come back and let’s read it together.
