DAY 92: Judges 8–9
Judges 8–9 reveals how quickly victory can give way to corruption when the heart remains unchanged. Gideon finishes his deliverance with success, yet subtle compromises begin to distort his legacy, leading Israel back into idolatry. After his death, that distortion explodes into full-scale chaos through Abimelech, who seizes power through violence and rules as a self-made king. These chapters expose the danger of post-victory decline and show that even God-appointed leaders cannot sustain righteousness on their own. They ultimately point to Christ, the true and perfect King, whose rule is not corrupted by compromise or ambition, but is righteous, enduring, and powerful enough to subdue sin and establish lasting peace.
