I clean the house day in and day out, and it’s never over.

* l’avant-veille = the day before the day before, the day before that, 2 days before
* la veille = the day before
* le jour même = this day
* ce jour-là = that day
* le lendemain = the day after, the next day, 2 days after
* le surlendemain = the day after the day after
* jour après jour, tous les jours, constamment = day in and day out

 

* avant-hier = the day before yesterday
* hier = yesterday
* aujourd’hui = today
* demain = tomorrow
* après-demain = the day after tomorrow

Exercice – Practice
Translate the sentences from one column to another. From French to English (la version) is easier, from English to French (la thèse) a bit more challenging.

Aujourd’hui, nous sommes le 14 juillet. Hier, nous étions le 13 et avant-hier le 12. Demain, nous serons le 15 et après-demain le 16 juillet.
Ce jour-là, nous étions le 14 juillet. La veille, nous étions le 13 et l’avant-veille le 12. Le lendemain, nous étions le 15 et le surlendemain le 16 juillet.
