Welcome to the Day One Patch Podcast, where we cover the week's gaming news, rumours, reports, and more. This week Adriano, Ryan, Tim, and Matt discussed the recently aired PlayStation Showcase 2023 that showed us all what the near future of PlayStation will look like. There were a lot of titles shown off including Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Helldivers 2, Dragon's Dogma 2, and many more. Surprisingly, we also got a couple of hardware announcements including the recently rumoured new PlayStation handheld, currently shown as Project Q. We also got a look at a new set of PlayStation earbuds that slide into a sleek charging case, matching the PlayStation 5's family of hardware aesthetic so far.
The titles announced at the showcase include:
Fairgame$ - a "PayDay-like" looking game with competitive elements (reminds us of Hood: Outlaws & Legends)
Helldivers 2 - the sequel to the formerly isometric shooter, now an over-the-shoulder experience with enhanced modern graphics
Immortals of Aveum - a first-person wizarding combat experience that's due out pretty soon (July 20, 2023)
Ghostrunner II - the sequel to Ghostrunner, this time featuring swordplay and motorcycle gameplay
Phantom Blade 0 - third-person combat game that gave us a mix of Ghost of Tsushima, Wo Long, and Sekiro vibes
Sword of the Sea - from the makers of Journey, this experience looked pretty cool with its flying dolphins, hoverboarding in the desert, and more
The Talos Principle 2 - sequel to the 2014 Talos Principle, a psychological thriller with a super cool aestetic
Assassin's Creed Mirage - the latest entry into the Assassin's Creed series, focusing on the "old style" gameplay before Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla
Street Fighter 6 - another entry into the Street Fighter franchise, coming off the heels of a successful beta, and releasing soon (June 2, 2023)
Dragons Dogma II - the second entry into the Dragon's Dogma series, showing off a glimpse of what looks to be some great storytelling, and magic spells
Five Nights at Freddy's: Help Wanted 2 - sequel to the first FNAF spin-off VR experience, looks terrifying and is coming to PS VR2
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 - awesome gameplay of Peter Parker, and Miles Morales teaming up...but the game's not co-op, still looks great though! The hardware announcements included:
Project Q - a streaming handheld that will stream PS5 games over WiFi to a tablet that is sandwiched between two halves of a DualSense controller
PS5 Earbuds - a set of earbuds that look like a great addition to the PlayStation 5 family of hardware, especially for those that don't want to bring a full headset around with them
