Proverbs 1
- Warning against the enticement of sinners and the call to wisdom
- Wisdom personified cries aloud in the streets, but fools reject her
Psalm 1
- Blessed is the man who delights in God’s law and avoids the wicked
- The righteous prosper like a tree by water; the wicked are like chaff blown away
Psalm 2
- Nations rage and kings conspire against the Lord and His Anointed
- God laughs at them, declares His Son as King on Zion, and warns rulers to submit
Psalm 3
- David trusts God as his shield amid many enemies and slander
- Salvation belongs to the Lord; He sustains David and delivers him
Psalm 4
- David prays for relief and trusts God to hear him in distress
- God has set him apart; he finds peace and joy in God alone

- David pleads for guidance and protection from evil men
- The righteous rejoice in God’s favor; the wicked are rejected from His presence
