January 24, 2020A New Voice for Immigrant YouthIn the spring of 2019, the Calgary community group, Action Dignity, formed out of the Ethno-Cultural Council, remaining dedicated to working with culturally diverse communities, over 70 in total. What they have found is that the welcome for immigrants to Calgary was often challenging and highly racialized. Part of the effort to change that is happening on February 1 at Arts Commons. "Our Canada, Our Story" asks what is the impact of being a new Canadian in Alberta? A collection of youth are working with playwright, Melanee Hunt to help tell these stories, some of whom have never acted before. However, the director the show, Michelle Thrush, is determined to make the show a good experience. Thrush is an award-winning actor who's appeared in shows like "Arctic Air," "Tin Star," and "North of 60." She spoke with Russell, along with actors Bukky Wanda and Shae Kubur....more10minPlay

However, misplaced items, inexplicable events and whispers in the dark disrupt her solace. Is this her own past coming back to haunt her? It all culminates in a show called "Whispers in the Dark," a haunting Victorian ghost story running until February 23rd.
