Look at your entire world, from within yourself to the world around you. God, who established the heavens, and formed us from the dust of the earth has put His spirit in us who believe His Son, transforming us in a moment into who He intended us to be. Although, we live in time and continue to see the effect of sin and decay around us, we are the first of all He will make new again. It’s a promise. From everlasting to everlasting.

In community means being in communion with each other – a oneness that transcends human judgement, that loves unconditionally and seeks to live justly with each other. Our model is Jesus’ life, of course. In Him and with His spirit we experience this wholeness and wholesomeness of life as God intended. We experience moments of this. Might we consider as we listen today, what selfless living, sacrificial love should look like in our lives, as an expression of true love for one another?

Are you tired? Do you wonder when and if the demands on your time will ease? We know we need to carve out time to rest, yet it is an easy thing to trade for getting one more thing done. The truth is only as we trust God with our lives – the very moments of each day, will be able to let go of the work, the plans, the projects, the schedules, the demands that interrupt and the weariness of it all. God gives us permission to rest. It’s a trust issue. Trusting God to hold our world together as we step off the merry-go-round and get our bearings once again.

The wisdom of the Psalm 37 captures the essence of understanding the relationship of trusting God and living our purpose: "Give God the right to direct your life, and as you trust him along the way, you’ll find he pulled it off perfectly!" It is only in letting go of what you want that you receive the direction, wisdom and strength to fulfill your purpose.

Patience involves understanding timing, an element in this world that is beyond our control. Yet, being patient is within our control. It is a force of our will to restrain from selfish desires, from pushing ahead when we need to stand still and let God be God. The measure of our maturity can be seen in how we handle ourselves with patience.

God wants us to know Him. Believing He is good, takes our trust to a new level. A Father whose character of pure love and goodness, is a Father we can love and trust. As Paul wrote, “we pray that by his power all the pleasures of goodness and all works inspired by faith would fill you completely.”

The scriptures say it so well, “For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.” If we focus our thoughts, asking God’s Spirit to fill our minds, guide our thoughts, we will live in peace, no matter our circumstances.

So what comes to mind when you try to think about 'what is authentic and true'? Someone's word, their promise? We constantly assess the truth of another's statement. Do we transfer those questions of whether the words are true to God as well? Perhaps we need to look closely at His promises and trust He indeed does speak truth in love. Always.

God has given us His peace, His righteousness and has reconnected us to Him. His intention is for there to never be a separation or break in our relationship. And it is so. He keeps this relationship. We experience by our choice to do so – every moment. Think about this as you listen today.

In his letter to the Philippians, Paul wrote, Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real. Controlling our thoughts is key to our perception of God's kingdom. We don't control its existence, only our experience of it. Focusing on what is true, what is real, what is authentic positions us to see, really see God at work in a world that sees only the physical realm. There is more to living, more to life and we're invited to join God in living to the fullness of our purpose.
