Week Twelve! Summer Study is over! Yay God for all He rebuilt, restored, and renewed in us! The final week was dedicated to testifying to God's abundance over the course of the summer. We spent the final half of the lecture time in open sharing, cutting the mic off to provide intimacy for our in person group members. Here we post the first half of the final Thursday night session, where Jillian provides one last sweeping review over the books of Ezra and Nehemiah. We have so enjoyed studying with you, Women in the Word!

This week is the penultimate week of our summer study, and Kaitlyn began by walking us through where we've been so far this summer, highlighting the themes and major story lines that we've seen through Ezra and Nehemiah. Then, she taught through Nehemiah 11 and 12, in which we saw that true worship produces great joy, and that the Good News is so good because the bad news is so bad.

This week, we have the privilege of hearing from two of our summer study teachers! First, Kaitlyn teaches through Psalm 126 and Nehemiah 10 and encourages us to trust God and take Him at His Word - He knows the big picture! Then, Sami shows us how Jesus is our ultimate example of valor as she teaches from Nehemiah 11. She also challenges us to surrender our calendars and to-do lists to the Lord - if we're not working in Him, we're working in vain (Psalm 127)!

Today on the podcast, Jillian reviews the faithfulness of God throughout the timeline of Nehemiah 1-7 before exploring the themes of Nehemiah 8-9. In Nehemiah 8, she reminds us that our "Why" to reading and understanding Scripture is to abide with God. He is our true strength and in his presence there is fullness of joy. Through Nehemiah 9, we saw that Jesus Christ stops our cycle of sin and softens our stiff necks to the gospel. We are sinful. Nevertheless, God is merciful!

In week 8 of our summer study, Kaitlyn walks us through Nehemiah 5, 6, and 7. We see in these chapters that the fear of the Lord must be the driving force behind our every decision, our every word, and our every action. We also see how Nehemiah, through his fear-of-the-Lord-driven living, points us to the true and greater Nehemiah: Jesus.

This week, Kaitlyn takes us through Nehemiah 3-4. She reminds us that God's providence in all that we do does not remove from us the responsibility to act. We'll see how God's people unite and work to rebuild Jerusalem's wall, how their enemies try to confuse and frustrate their plans, and how Nehemiah and the people respond to this opposition. We learn in tandem how we can arm ourselves today against the attacks of the enemy.

In week 6 of Summer Study, we transitioned from Ezra into Nehemiah. In this week’s podcast, Sami reviews the context of Nehemiah and takes us through chapters 1 and 2. In this lesson, Sami encourages us to pursue the kingdom of God with fervor, to praying earnestly and to work diligently with God’s promised counsel.

During week 5 of summer study, Jillian reviews the events of the book of Ezra, focusing in on chapters 7-10. We learn that God builds within us before He builds through us, that the safest place we can be is God's will, and that sanctification is worthwhile work.
