"Frantz Derenoncourt, Jr. was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Haitian immigrants. He attended Virginia State University, where he majored in business management, and later moved to Washington, DC, in 1998 to pursue a successful career in real estate sales, becoming a top agent in the DC metropolitan area.
In 2015, recognizing a need to highlight the contributions of Haitians, Frantz founded Thorobred Books, an independent publishing company. Through this venture, he has published six books focused on the rich history of Haiti, including his widely popular first book, Haiti: The First Black Republic, which has maintained a top spot on Amazon for years."
