On this Friday the 13th I decided to bring you probably one of the most famous Friday the 13th shows the Grateful Dead performed - this one from Friday, July 13, 1984 at the Greek Theater in Berkeley CA. While the show is justifiably famous for the appearance of Dark Star in the 2nd set; I'm completionist enough to include the 1st set this week. All in all, this is a good 1st set and a fine example of early-to-mid 80s Dead. Always a beautiful place to see the band, the crowd is treated to a rocking 'Bertha->Greatest Story' to start the show. 'Dire Wolf' which follows is always a treat, and Bobby does a good job on 'C C Rider'.
There are solid versions of the rest of the tunes, with the possible exception of 'Dupree's' where Jerry gets a bit lost. :)

a short note on my logo.. after over 10 years of publishing the Deadpod, I was served a letter form Rhino/Warner Brothers/GDP informing me that my logo was an unauthorized use of Grateful Dead trademarks. Personally I don't get it, but I don't have the resources to fight it so I've had to remove the classic Deadpod stealie.. just so you know why it is fading away..
