There's one thing that Covid and Cancer have in common. When someone gets the diagnosis there is often a great deal of fear, and/or panic. While this podcast is not designed to prescribe or treat either condition, it is meant to give insight and inspiration on what to do should you or someone you love be diagnosed with either of these potentially life threatening or altering conditions, or other diseases.
Dr. Forrestal has worked in the emergency room setting for over 20 years and having been on the front-line of urgent and life threatening situations, he has also had many experiences of sharing the upsetting news of many terminal or potentially terminal diseases.
As we know, Covid nor Cancer are death sentences per se, however many people's life drastically change with such information, and the initial response is often one of great fear. Some see their life flash before their eyes, or react by searching the worst-case scenario of others who have not recovered, or if so, recovered with great suffering. But Dr. Forrestal's outlook is to view these diagnosis with as much personal empowerment as possible, and believes this is a fight that can often be won.
On this podcast we discuss what to do immediately after a diagnosis, when one should or should not go to the emergency room, how to support the body's innate healing response, and how to have an outlook that is life-giving.
He has written a very thorough guide to help those who need called Crushing Cancer; A Patient's Complete Guide to Managing a Cancer Diagnosis.
