Dealing With Emotional Consequences For The Better with Jon Becker

Listen Later

“It becomes easy for us to marginalize these guys and write them off. and I don't think it's fair. And I think it is something that we need to take the brightest light we can possibly point at it and make people pay attention to it.”  –  Jon Becker

In today’s episode, we welcome back, Jon Becker. Jon believes that we need to continue to preserve history in order to ensure that future generations can benefit. He discusses how the project provides an opportunity for people to hear thoughtful and emotional stories from law enforcement officers and veterans. He discusses how the “Fallen Officer Project” has helped them process their emotions and heal. He says that we need to normalize the treatment of the emotional injuries that people are getting in their jobs, just as we do physical injuries.

Key Quotes:

“We have to normalize the treatment of the emotional part of this as much as we normalize the treatment of the physical.” - Jon Becker

“We talked about making intentional choices. Don't let choices be made for you and I think as a country, we're allowing those choices to be made and we're making these sacrifices and it's very easy for us to make those sacrifices because you're not the one standing at Andrew's Air Force base watching them unload the kids.” - Jon Becker
