Only a small percentage of people are able to show up in the world exactly as they are because it can take a great deal of courage. So, today, let’s try to express our true selves even if it’s in a small way. Start with one choice to reveal a part of your hidden self. Maybe it’s wearing a color that you love, painting a wall in a color no one else would normally choose, or in any other way that makes sense to you.

The holiday season is upon us and so are the complex feelings that can come with it. I talk about the contrast of the happiness of the holidays and the pain of loss, anxiety, and worry that can plague so many of us. I also talk about the importance of trusting that we can show up as ourselves without always preparing so much. I want you to try to make space for both sadness and joy during this time. As you know, I love writing and I’d also love for you to write. I have received hundreds, if not thousands of messages, from people who want to write a book and are looking for information on how to go about it and how to get one published. Before you think about publishing, it’s essential to consider one important thing: the enjoyment of writing and just getting your story on the page. Today’s guest is an amazing fiction writer and poet, Diane Wald. Her book, “My Famous Brain”, was the winner of the Visionary Fiction category from the NYC Big Book Awards, a competition judged by experts from many facets of the book industry worldwide, including publishers, writers, and professional editors.
We spent the hour talking about her life as a writer, her struggles when she was teaching and writing, and how she’s had 3 books published in the last 3 years at 73 years old. She truly is an inspiration to any who wants to know how to start and is worried that it is too late to start.

She has published five chapbooks, four full-length collections of poetry, and two novels.
