Calamity Jayne and Roxy explore why it's sometimes so difficult to let go of the judgements that cause us ongoing pain and sometimes bitterness or self-loathing. They talk about not only the blame and hurt others may place on us but how often times, it's what we do to ourselves that is hardest to forgive. And without forgiveness, they argue, is it possible to let go? They talk about ways to move through the thoughts that keep us stuck reliving the past in order to let go of the pain such as journaling, forgiveness rituals and meditation.
In this episode, Calamity Jayne and Roxy explore the various ways we judge and have a little fun with their own rules for life. When in your life did you feel judged harshly or wrongly for your actions? When did you judge others in a similar manner? We all have innate tendencies to judge and the question is, by understanding that we all can judge, what would happen if we chose the opposite for a change? What if we believed, despite the differences, that both opinions could be right? Life is a paradox and that's what makes it so very interesting. Judge Judy said, "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining". Honesty can be harsh and difficult, especially when looking in the mirror. Calamity Jayne and Roxy ask us all to be less judgmental and they hope the world might turn out to be a kinder, gentler place to be human.
Calamity Jayne and Roxy explore reasons to be hopeful at a time in our lives when many traditions surrounding the holidays have been put on hold one more time. In this episode they remember some simple examples of what hope meant to them as children and how that changes once you've grown and taken on the added responsibilities of parenting. They also offer some tips you might try if you're finding this time of the year difficult.
The first in a series of book readings, Calamity Jayne begins reading the book, SHUT YOUR MOUTH: Advice I Ignored, Lessons She Taught by Renee Louisa Rockow and Jayne Van Brunt. Working together, Calamity Jayne and Roxy completed the book in less than a year and published in May of 2020. The story follows Roxy from her youngest memories of family and the many places they lived, describing the often tumultuous mother-daughter relationship she experienced. It's a story about acceptance, forgiveness, and the letting go that leads to the desire to heal and to reflect upon life lessons learned from a mother who was in fact, the perfect teacher for what the daughter needed to learn.
This episode begins the story, covering the Introduction and the beginning of Part One, with Idaho the Dog.
The Good Life deals with current events and heading into the holidays, still managing isolation and the reality that life is not changing soon. Calamity Jayne and Roxy discuss favorite Thanksgiving memories and being grateful. Their advice in these trying times is to find a way to remain in the moment especially when it is so difficult to do so. Everyone has their own definition of the good life and it only takes being reminded of what has been lost to get us focused back on what's important. Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
During this episode, Calamity Jayne and Roxy explore why both conscious and unconscious state dreams play important roles in the inspirational part of who we are. By practicing a few tips, they explain ways to remember more about our unconscious dreams and also how we might better understand the meaning behind them. They also discuss the importance of living in the moment, allowing quiet space to dream and to simply be a woman without the every day worries and responsibilities we take on. And finally, they have fun sharing memories of the very popular 60's series, Bewitched. Join them as they conclude the episodes that reflect the importance of the dream state, whether you're asleep or awake!
Were you a child that loved to be scared? Did you go out of your way as a teenager to find the next scary movie to watch? Do you still? What is the scariest movie you've ever seen? When we get scared, it forces an adrenaline rush, that for many, is addicting. Others, are fear averse. Roxy and Calamity Jayne explore the whys behind each type of person and also, the difference between fake, or perceived fear, and the normal fears we experience today. They also discuss how to manage fears and review the top eleven dreams/hallucinations people have. In Bewitched, which is part two of The Boogeyman, they begin to explore the interpretations of dreams and how, if you are curious, you might begin to remember more of your dreams and understand what might be going on in your life to have you dreaming such thoughts. And finally, what is the purpose of dreaming anyway?
