When Greeks approached Philip saying they wished to see Jesus, Christ responded by declaring His hour of glory had come. However, Jesus revealed that seeing Him truly means understanding that the path to glory goes through death. Using the metaphor of a grain of wheat that must die to bear fruit, Jesus taught that genuine discipleship requires dying to self. This death isn't just Christ's sacrifice for us, but becomes the pattern for our lives. To see Jesus clearly means being willing to put to death our old nature, selfish desires, and worldly attachments. Only through this sacrifice can we bear lasting fruit and truly reflect Christ to others.
