Paradogmata is a Norwegian progressive extreme metal band from Trondheim, blending melodic thrash, death metal, black metal and doom into one distinctive sound. Formed in 2018, the band evolved into a new chapter after guitarist Øystein Granamo Iversen and drummer Kim Sætre joined in 2025, broadening their sound even further.

Their new EP, "Necrosian Tastings," serves as a first glimpse into the upcoming full-length album "Necrosian Litanies," due in early 2027. The EP features two new tracks — "Leave the Crippled Behind" and "Maladieu" — alongside two reimagined versions of their single "Kråkevisa": a harsher black metal rendition and a folk-driven version featuring Ingvild "Sareeta" Strønen Johannesen on Hardanger fiddle and violin.

Before his name became synonymous with the birth of Norwegian black metal, Euronymous lent his hand to helping produce Mortem's "Slow Death" demo — a lesser-known chapter in extreme metal history. Decades later, the band is back with their new album "Mørketid," out July 3rd via Peaceville Records.

Cerebrum is a progressive melodic death metal band from Finland. Formed in Turku in the early 1990s, the band recorded two demos in their early days before going through several lineup changes and eventually disappearing from the scene.

In 2022, four of the original members decided to bring Cerebrum back to life, picking up where they left off and continuing to push their unique blend of progressive and melodic death metal.

Over the years, Cerebrum has shared the stage with a long list of bands, including Archgoat, Black Dawn, Garcharot, Disgrace, Deceiver, Deep Turtle, At Dawn They Sleep, Absurdus, Depravity, Preprophecy (later known as Cryhavoc), Congestion, Euthanausea, Inferia, Necropsy, Thromdarr, Blood Chalice, Pestigore, Tenebrae, Guts, and many more.

ÆoniK is a melodic black/death metal band from Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, formed in 2024. Despite being a young act, the band wasted no time making an impact on the European metal scene, winning the Wacken Metal Battle Luxembourg 2024 and earning a coveted spot at the legendary Wacken Open Air Festival that same year.

Musically, ÆoniK forges a sound where the ferocity of death metal collides with the atmospheric darkness of black metal — intense, dynamic, and immediately distinct. Their compositions balance raw aggression with sweeping, melodic soundscapes that feel both uncompromising and cinematic.

The band is built from seasoned musicians with deep roots in the Luxembourg metal underground. Vocalist Jeff Buchette (also of Scarlet Anger and Ed Hunters) took over vocal duties in 2025, bringing a wealth of experience to the front. The rhythm section and twin guitar attack — featuring members with ties to Scarlet Anger, Rude Revelation, Last Prophecy, and Sublind, among others — give the band a tight, road-tested foundation despite their recent formation.

ÆoniK released their debut EP Aeonian Lights and single Eternal Descent in 2024, before dropping their first full-length concept album, The Roamer of Heaven and Hell, on April 30, 2026 via Fetzner Death Records. Handling production, mixing, mastering, and artwork entirely in-house, the band maintains full creative control over their music and visual identity.

After an eight-year wait, the Norwegian symphonic black metal titans are back. Grand Serpent Rising — the 10th studio album from Dimmu Borgir — dropped on May 22, 2026 via Nuclear Blast Records, and in this video I break down every track, every riff, and every orchestral swell across all 69 minutes of this beast.

Recorded at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg with longtime collaborator Fredrik Nordström — the same producer behind Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon — the album delivers 13 tracks of pure orchestral symphonic black metal. It's also the band's first album to feature songs in native Norwegian since Stormblåst MMV back in 2005.

Featuring the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra on select tracks and additional choir recorded at Propeller Studio in Oslo, this is Dimmu Borgir going for the jugular — and the heavens — at the same time.
