  • Hear Him!
Whom must we hear? Mark 9:1–13 looks forward to the hearing of God's Word, publicly read, in the holy assembly on the coming Lord's Day. In these thirteen verses of Holy Scripture, the Holy Spirit teaches us that we must hear Christ, telling us that God the Son became a man to suffer abuse and die, and that His people must expect similar experience. The devotional examines the Transfiguration narrative to reveal Jesus's divine glory and authority as the beloved Son of God. It contrasts the radiant revelation on the mountain with the subsequent necessity of Christ's suffering, death, and resurrection. Pastor highlights how Peter's misunderstanding serves to correct any notion of equality between Jesus and the Old Testament prophets. This event confirms that the kingdom of God arrives through the Son's sacrificial work rather than earthly power. The message calls believers to worship Jesus alone and trust in the redemptive power of His cross.

  • Proverbs Overview: What Is Wisdom and How Do We Live Wisely?
What is biblical wisdom, and how should it shape the Christian life? In this concluding episode through Proverbs, Dave Jenkins considers the major themes we have encountered throughout the book. Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord and means living rightly before God according to His Word. Proverbs repeatedly presents two paths: wisdom leading toward life and folly leading toward destruction. It teaches that wisdom touches our words, relationships, work, decisions, desires, and character. It also directs us inward to the heart while reminding us that the sovereign Lord directs our steps. Living wisely means fearing the Lord, remaining in His Word, guarding our hearts, watching our words, walking humbly, receiving correction, and choosing wisdom day after day. Yet Proverbs ultimately points beyond ourselves to Jesus Christ. We have not lived wisely or obeyed God perfectly, but Christ has. Jesus is not merely an example of wisdom. He is the wisdom of God. Through His death and resurrection, sinners are forgiven, transformed, and enabled to walk according to God's ways. Proverbs 9:10: "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight." • Remember the Goodness of God
The sermon examines Joshua chapters 5 verses 10 to 12, highlighting the essential spiritual preparations Israel undertook before conquering Jericho. It emphasizes that worship must precede warfare, as evidenced by the renewal of circumcision and the observance of the Passover, which points to Christ's sacrificial death. The text further explores the Feast of Firstfruits as a type of Jesus' resurrection and the Feast of Unleavened Bread as a call to remove sin from one's life. The preacher argues that believers must continually cast out the leaven of sin and remember God's goodness through tithing and communion to secure spiritual victory. Ultimately, the message urges Christians to rely on ordinary means of grace while maintaining purity in a sinful world.
