  • The Sacrifice of the Son
This sermon explores the theological concept of purification from sin as presented in Hebrews 1, emphasizing that human efforts and religious rituals are insufficient to address the deep moral corruption inherent in humanity. The central message highlights that Jesus Christ, through His voluntary death and sacrifice, accomplished a complete and permanent cleansing that surpasses the repetitive Levitical system. By sitting at the right hand of God, Christ signifies the completion of this redemptive work, securing eternal redemption for believers. This act not only forgives sins but also purifies the conscience from dead works, enabling a transformed life where behavior aligns with the believer's new status. Ultimately, this purification grants believers direct access to God's presence, allowing them to enter the holy of holies in prayer with confidence and thanksgiving.

  • The Lowest Step and the Highest Name
Pastor Robert Rohlin continues the Be Joyful series in Philippians 2:6-11, one of the greatest passages on Christ in all of Scripture, which Paul wrote to heal a quarrel between two women in the church at Philippi. He traces four steps: Christ's deity, His descent, His death, and His dominion. Down, down, down, and then up above all. Along the way come a monkey that will not let go of the bait in a trap, the world-class violinist Joshua Bell playing unnoticed in a subway station, Moses leaving Pharaoh's palace, and the Savior in a servant's apron washing dusty feet the night before the cross. Jesus never stopped being God. He laid aside His glory, not His deity, and stooped to the most shameful death the Roman world knew. Then the Father lifted Him to the name above every name, before which every knee will bow, Caesar and Satan included. Why listen? Everyone will one day confess that Jesus is Lord. The only question is whether you bow now, gladly, or later, in shame. He closes with three things to do this week, bow, believe, and bend, because in God's kingdom the way up is always down.

  • What Are You Seeking For?
John 6:24 "when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus." This sermon examines the distinction between seeking Jesus for material benefit and seeking Him for spiritual salvation, using the crowd's pursuit of Christ in John 6 as a primary example. The speaker argues that the multitude sought Jesus only because they were physically fed, illustrating a 'wrong kind of seeking' that prioritises temporal, perishable things over eternal realities. In contrast, the 'right kind of seeking' involves recognising one's sinfulness and turning to Christ as the Bread of Life, who offers everlasting life through His sacrificial death. The message urges listeners to reorient their priorities away from wealth and status toward the urgent need for soul salvation. It concludes with a direct appeal to unsaved individuals to repent and trust in Christ alone for forgiveness and eternal life.

  • Way That Seems Right
This sermon examines Proverbs 16:25, warning that a life path which appears right to human standards but excludes God ultimately leads to spiritual death. Through the anecdote of a successful yet non-religious friend, the message illustrates that worldly success, kindness, and moral relativism are insufficient without a relationship with the Creator. The text contrasts the futility of self-directed planning with the biblical command to commit one's work to the Lord, asserting that God's sovereignty supersedes human desires. By referencing C.S. Lewis's illustration of God remodeling a house into a palace, the sermon encourages believers to trust in divine guidance, finding joy in the fact that God's plans are greater than their own. The tone is pastoral and convicting, urging the audience to abandon self-reliance and embrace the eternal perspective offered by wisdom.
