  • Psalm 20
In Psalm 20, the "you" being prayed for isn't David or the worshiper but the promised messianic king, fulfilled in Jesus: his victory over sin, death, and hell becomes ours by faith, since our fate is in lockstep with his. That grounds three things: we rejoice because the King did all the work, we're confident because God's own name is staked on our salvation, and we trust him alone because everything else we could lean on has an expiration date.

  • Just Jars
This sermon explores the nature of Christian ministry through the lens of 2 Corinthians 4, emphasizing that the message belongs to Christ, the power belongs to God, and the pattern of service is death before life. The preacher argues that ministers are merely fragile vessels, or 'jars of clay,' entrusted with the incomparable treasure of the gospel, ensuring that the surpassing power is attributed to God rather than human ability. By highlighting Paul's experience of affliction without destruction, the message illustrates that suffering is not a sign of failure but a necessary context for God's sustaining power to be displayed. The central call is for the church to embrace a cruciform ministry where self-sacrifice and weakness serve as the vehicle for the manifestation of Christ's life in others. Ultimately, the sermon encourages believers to find sufficiency in God's grace, recognizing that their role is to faithfully carry the treasure rather than to generate the power themselves.

  • If God Justifies
The sermon explores the theological connection between Zechariah 3 and Romans 8, illustrating the doctrine of justification through the visual narrative of Joshua the high priest. It emphasizes that while Satan acts as a valid accuser of sin, he lacks the authority to condemn, as only God holds the power of judgment. The central message highlights that God's response to the accuser is not a denial of guilt but a sovereign rebuke based on His prior choice of His people, depicted as a burning stick snatched from the fire. This grace is fulfilled through Christ's death and resurrection, which removes the guilt of sin and clothes the believer in righteousness. The passage offers profound comfort to believers struggling with guilt, asserting that their security rests not in their own performance or emotions, but in the finished work of Christ who now intercedes for them at the right hand of God.

  • Prophet Priest and King
This sermon examines the unique identity of Jesus Christ by exploring His fulfillment of the three distinct offices of prophet, priest, and king. It begins by establishing Jesus as the ultimate prophet who perfectly reveals God's truth and will, surpassing all previous messengers. The message then shifts to His role as the great High Priest, emphasizing that His once-for-all sacrifice on the cross has permanently bridged the gap between humanity and God, allowing believers to approach the throne of grace with boldness. Finally, it presents Jesus as the sovereign King who holds all authority in heaven and on earth, offering believers the victory over death and sin. The sermon concludes by urging the congregation to fully submit to Christ in all three capacities, recognizing that He alone is sufficient for salvation, guidance, and eternal life.

  • The Unfolding Plan Of The Bible
"Our world is in trouble. In fact, humanity is suffering with disease. Death. But even more. There is a problem of evil and sin that is tearing our civilization apart. The Bible says there is an answer. That answer was given and runs like a thin red line from Genesis 3 through the rest of Scripture. Follow that line and see where it leads.."- Dr. Mal Couch
