You don't always get (or see) the big bucks. Darron extends his season into the 2025 antlerless season to fill his freezer. Darron represents Bergara rifles and Athlon optics on the .22NRL stage but a few of the larger calibers make it into his gun safe as well. Turns out he's handy with those as well, he barely warmed up the seat before a doe walked in front of his bullet!
Our highly anticipated Deer Week turned out to be what we expected... warm and lacking old bucks! Nevertheless we did our best to keep positive, mostly looking to the future. Rut is just beginning with the rest of November ahead.
After my first good trail camera was stolen I gave up using them. Then Dad scored some good deals on a few and we started using them again. In recent years we began using cellular cameras, they are a fun part of the off-season but come with their own set of challenges.
Spring turkey hunting in Kansas is one of the most enjoyable outdoor experiences to have, even without filling a tag (thankfully because I'm not very consistent in that department!) But Darron is on a streak of short hunts stalking gobblers with his CVA Scout .410!
On a ride to the farm for more Spring shed hunting Darron explains how he was introduced to NRL.22 precision shooting and now his efforts to be an ambassador of the sport with backing from Bergara and Athlon Optics as a team member of Bergara's competitive shooting team.

It seems like Chad has his eye on several big bucks each season. This year was no exception, however his top three met their demise early. His season ended happily in a surprise encounter with a 4yr old buck looking for a fight which he dropped at 12yds with his recurve!

Our much awaited Deer Week is finally here! And, over.... for Darron it is anyway. On his first sit Darron proves he made the right move to catch an old buck as he appears during daylight after a day of rain comes to an end. Catch the details of Darron's hunt and past encounters with the buck he calls Scar.

Our anticipation is at fever pitch, buck fever that is! Fall is when the bucks are roaming in Kansas and the second week of November will find us perched in treestands that dot the family farm. This episode is a preview of our Deer Week and a review of our recent days of preparation (or lack thereof). Good luck to all who will be joining us, and congrats to all the tags that already bit the dust!
