The "Westlawn Feather Report: Volume 2, Issue 16," welcomed students back to the building following the extended Thanksgiving break and detailed a packed calendar of events leading up to winter break. A significant event featured is the Scholastic Book Fair, scheduled to run from December 8–12, with a special Family and Friends shopping event set for Wednesday, December 10, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This day, December 10, is also an Early Release Wednesday, with dismissal occurring at 12:30 PM. The document stresses the critical deadline of December 15, 2025, for submitting referrals for full-time Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services for students in Grades 2-6, emphasizing that late referrals will not be accepted. Additionally, the newsletter marked the upcoming Computer Science Education Week (December 8-12), explaining that early exposure to computer science helps children build vital skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and logical thinking, which are valuable across many future career paths.

The report also focused on school logistics, community involvement, and recognition. The Westlawn community achieved its goal of collecting 1,000 pounds of plastic film, earning a Trex bench for the campus. Volunteers are requested to help supervise sixth-grade students testing capstone projects involving rocketry and aeronautics for STEAM classes, and numerous volunteer slots remain open for the Book Fair. For the upcoming holiday season, the administration provided a gentle reminder that staff gifts are not expected, though simple and low-cost gestures, such as kind notes, student-made cards, or small classroom supplies, are thoughtful options. Operationally, families were instructed to review and provide digital consent for two new Google Services options (Chrome Web Store and Google Play Store) necessary due to recent changes in how educational applications are managed. The newsletter concluded with a "Soaring Staff Spotlight" featuring sixth-grade teacher Ms. Meredith Jessen, who shared that math was her favorite subject in school and that reading is her favorite hobby.
