You may have seen a list of objectives when you took a college course or attended a training event. Traditionally, objectives were used to inform the learner what they can expect to learn. 

Truth be told, anyone outside the learning and development industry does not give a flip about the objectives. Objectives are meaningless to the public. What the general public cares about is what content is being covered topically.

However, this does not mean you should ignore objectives. 

The real purpose of instructional objectives is to guide you when creating instructional material and to aid the instructor when delivering instruction.
