Trudeau Warns Americans: You Will Pay More if Trump Dares Impose Tariffs on Canada 

outgoing left-wing Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau warned Thursday that American consumers will pay more if and when President Donald Trump moves to apply sweeping tariffs on products from north of the border.

Trump told reporters in the Oval Office earlier in the day he still plans to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico at 25 percent rates starting as soon as Feb. 1. Trump previously threatened to impose sweeping new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China as soon as he took office but the tariffs weren’t applied on day one, as Breitbart News reported.

Trump Brings Stellantis Jobs To Illinois... Pritzker Takes Credit

 

Stellantis, the Big 3 auto maker, announced it will be investing $1.2 billion in its Belvidere assembly plant and bringing back about 1,500 jobs there.

You’ll never know who really got it done if you listen to Illinois’ leadership.

It was a  “dramatic turnabout,” as the Detroit Free Press put it.

As you may remember, Gov. JB Pritzker announced to much fanfare in October 2023 that the Stellantis facility in Belvidere, idled with layoffs just before the previous Christmas, would be reopened. But no deal was ever signed and, last year, Stellantis indefinitely postponed any Belividere expansion, blaming “market conditions.”

But that was before Trump, his tariff threats and four days of meetings last week between Stellantis, Trump and his team.

Foreign investors are buying U.S. equities at a record pace

 Dumb money is pejoratively a reference to retail investors (and also the title of the movie about the surge in GameStop stock). Basically, mom and pop usually arrive late to any investment news and end up being the exit liquidity for the professionals. That is not universally the case – in the GameStop situation, for instance, a major hedge fund was driven out of business – but the professionals usually have the upper hand.

If there’s a group even dumber, unfortunately, it would be foreign retail investors. And they’re buying U.S. stocks like they’re going out of fashion.
