Hey folks – shorter blurb, because…series. Some topics I can’t seem to just fold up and tuck away in one Talky Bit, and this is one of those. The deeper I dig, the more I want to and see that I need to dig. The impact of colonization on every aspect of life, the ways it is tangled up with our belief systems (not to mention our legal systems), the fact that it can be seen everywhere to such a degree that it’s hard to see anywhere in particular – these are all facets of what that one word “colonialism” encompasses. So if we’re seriously exploring what we believe, this is one we can’t ignore or end-run.
So yeah…get your game day snacks ready (that’s as close as I’ll come to mentioning the Super Bowl). I’ll see you on Sunday at 10:45 a.m. for some tunes and Community Time, followed by the Talky Bit, which will also be available as a podcast early in the following week. You can find the livestream here and podcasts both current and archived here. And just a reminder that the Sunday morning livestream stays up on the Facebook page well after the event is over, so you can sleep in and still check in. Should I be encouraging this?
Zoom hangouts on Sunday and Wednesday can be found at the links below. We’ll fire up Sunday’s “And Lunch After” at 12:15 again. It seemed like that worked fairly well last week, and the ensuing discussion was a particularly lively one, generating among other things quite a reading list. Not a bad idea, that. A shout out to Horst for getting the ball rolling by asking the group what they have read on the topic under discussion. We should try to do that more often. It seems we are part of a reading community whose selections are often deeply thought provoking. All right…here are the links for Zoom hangs.
