Deconstructing the "C" Word - 12

Listen Later

Ryan Blenkiron and I have never met and therefore have never discussed details of her battle with Cancer. But in this episode we talk about what it has been like this mom of three to live with her Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma diagnosis.

Ryan talks about the significance of the Young Adult Cancer Canada organization and how it has been how she's re defined her purpose in life.

It's an interesting conversation to listen to, as I talk about holistic healing and my knee jerk response to how I would want to treat Cancer, but Ryan has something to say about her choices after finding out her diagnosis.

She touches on prioritizing her life to care less about what people think of her, but also feeling a sense of identity loss when her brain's ability to function isn't what it used to be. She's candid about the impact of the invisibility of her Cancer and the toll it took on her marriage.

Always coming back to the community she found within the YACC organization, and her passion for spreading the word so other young adults don't have to suffer alone.

If you're interested in YACC or speaking privately with Ryan, you can reach her via email ryan@girlnamedryan or facebook RyanBlenkiron
