With the #MeToo movement and in the aftermath of Kavanaugh, many women have come forward to speak about sexual assault. Here I deconstruct some of the noise.
+ The Rational Bible, Gosnell, the viral song "Scary Time for Men", mailbag and more.
Side note: I am a survivor of sexual assault. I have profound empathy for other men and women who have been abused. I also have great respect for those who stand up and speak out against sexual assault.
I say some pretty harsh things in this podcast episode. Many of you may not agree with some of the things I say.
❗️I would like to make this next statement perfectly clear in writing: I do not believe in victim blaming. No woman ever deserves to be sexually assaulted. There is never an excuse for a rapist to assault someone. Also, I personally believe that rapists should be castrated. With that in mind, it is also important to recognize that today’s hookup culture does have a heavy impact on our culture and can lead to increased risky behavior and situations. While I do not think it is an excuse to sexually assault someone, I do not recommend to anyone that they participate in behavior that would put them at risk of being in an in-safe situation. I do believe we should listen to victims, but in order to avoid destroying someone’s life with accusations, I also believe that we must follow due process of law and have evidence to convict someone.
