Senior Research Associate with Wisconsin Policy Forum Ari Brown joins Kristin and Brian to discuss a report her authored regarding a decrease in opioid deaths in Wisconsin and its correlation with the recent distribution of settlement funds. Brown explains what they uncovered from their report, trends they’ve seen within the last year revolving opioid and fentanyl usage and deaths, what settlements were reached in Wisconsin and local government and state health departments are using their money. Then it's been decades since a homeless 29-year-old Silver Jenkins was found dead in the Eau Claire Jail. An investigation was conduction was complete in August of 2003, however; the Wisconsin Department of Justice still has not released the review. Frank Zufall has been reporting on the story through the Criminal Justice Reporting Project with The Wisconsin Examiner. Zufall shares with Kristin and Brian what he has uncovered through his reporting and what other findings have come to light since the incident.
