PS sorry for the audio quality - I promise it will be way better tomorrow!
This is the first episode in my Meditation Myths mini-series, where we cover the top myths that jeopardise long-term committed practice.
Today we discuss why meditation is not about calm and relaxation, and how to overcome this damaging myth.
This is the Sunday Sit with Deep Psychology.
In July, we get together every Sunday at 8pm CET, 7pm UK, 2pm Eastern and practice a new meditation technique together.
I encourage you to practice today's technique every day until next Sunday, and to continue this habit for the entire month to get a proper taste of this work.
Today we tackle the sticky topic of the shadow: what it is, how it forms, and how we can identify our own shadow traits.
Shadow traits are not all negative and antisocial, and they form not because we are evil but because of how we develop as people.
To learn how to do shadow work, go back to last week's episode.

Let’s talk about a powerful concept that I’ve discovered after years of working hard on my personal growth and mastering different subjects, from maths to languages to meditation to writing.
This is my Law of Proportional Reward, and it applies to all areas of personal growth, whether it’s career, relationships, finances, spirituality, or indeed learning.
It even explains our levels of fulfilment and zest for life. We tend to think that a comfortable, easy life is what we want. This law turns that idea on its head.
I’ve had this concept built into my psychology for a long time, but only recently have I realised that it drives many of my positive personal growth habits and explains my negative ones.
If you want to experience positive gains in any area of life, you simply need to know – nay, live and breathe – my Law of Proportional Reward.

Here I explain how to do shadow work. You'll learn a simple but remarkably powerful 4-step technique for reintegrating any shadow trait.
With this method, you can feel your shadow being regurgitated and reintegrated into your conscious self, and the wholeness and fullness that results from it.

Could the conservative side of you be preventing you from taking action? Do you believe that growth is possible or that you’re bound to be a certain way forever?
In this episode, we’ll unpack a crucial concept for self-mastery: that of the growth mindset and fixed mindset.
These two mentalities guide how we view ourselves and our abilities. Knowledge of them will help you identify when you’re shooting yourself in the foot and enable you to make empowering changes.
