I'm a week late in posting this mix; so I forgot what inspired me to use the name "groovy" as the set title. Oh well....

I loved the sound in the kick drum from a couple of the tunes in the November podcast by Shur-I-Kan (https://www.mixcloud.com/shurikan/). The sound is like what a kick sounds like when a drummer puts a pillow into the drum cavity of a kick. It sounds more like (wait for it ...) a soft thump than a crisp, hard kick. So I tried to put together a bunch of songs that shared that characteristic. I picked roughly half the songs in the 30 minutes before the set started (partly by simply choosing some of the same ones Shur-I-Kan played, then riffed on the idea), and the rest during the set.

It's been a couple of weeks since I played the set, so I don't remember what sound-center I wanted for this set, or why I called it "flip". Oh well.

There's no real music motivation for the set; I just played just what struck my fancy that day. However, the title & cover art are inspired by having just seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi a couple of days before I played the set. (The crystal / ice wolf is an animal that plays a notable role in the movie.)

So while this is likely ok (since Soundcloud probably resamples down anyway) the quality might suffer a bit. If there are any artifacts, now you know why.
