Welcome to the June 2025 episode of the Deepdale Podcast, our magazine programme about North Norfolk. This month, Jason continues to meet fascinating members of the North Norfolk community. He chats with Nicky King, the coxswain of Wells-next-the-Sea RNLI, Iona Lane a musician inspired by the natural world who's playing a gig at Deepdale on 21st June, and Rosie Newport, a local artisan and passionate wild swimmer.
As June is such a lovely month on the North Norfolk Coast, hopefully you’ll take inspiration from Norfolk Wildlife Trust's 30 Days Wild and fit in some wildlife enjoyment. All three of the chats this month are with people who love the landscape, so naturally the conversation turns to enjoying the space, big skies and coastline that we have in abundance here. If you are looking for reasons to visit North Norfolk, then you’ll find a huge list of North Norfolk and West Norfolk events on our website, and we are constantly adding to the listings, you can also add yours.
Enjoy the listen. And if you do, please do subscribe (its free) and leave us a review on your favourite podcast app or directory. There is a huge back catalogue of episodes to listen to.

Thanks for listening to the fifth in our collection of special Deepdale Festival Podcasts in 2024. Jason is your host for this series.
In this episode Jason chats with Lorna and Karen from The Henry Girls, who are playing on Sunday, Ross Stewart, who is playing on Friday, and Elizabeth & Jameson, who perform on Friday.
Lorna and Karen from The Henry Girls join me over the internet from Ireland. 10 years ago Chris drove to Birmingham one evening to see them play in the Kitchen Garden Café. When he bought his CD after the gig, they wrote on his purchase that they hoped to make it to Norfolk someday. So you can understand how excited he is that he’s hosting them for Deepdale Festival 2024.
Ross is a local, living in Norfolk for most of his life, but you wouldn’t know from his accent or his support of Scottish sports teams. He chats about creating music and finding his style.
Hannah and Griff, aka Elizabeth & Jameson, chat about how they came to music, Hannah’s love of Welsh rugby and being surrounding by the music of the valleys.
Thank you to all of them for allowing us to play a sample of their music. From The Henry Girls we play A Time To Grow, from Ros Stewart we play Sweet Morning, and from Elizabeth & Jameson we play Old Town.
Enjoy this episode, and we hope you’ll listen back to the rest of the Deepdale Festival series.

In this episode Jason chats with Hawksley Workman from Canada, who performs on Sunday, Christina Alden & Alex Patterson from Norwich, who perform on Friday, and Christian Smith from Cambridgeshire, who performs on Saturday with his band The Heretics.
Hawksley chats about his love of touring, his wingman Mr Lonely on piano, and how Canadians look at the UK for inspiration and adulation.
Christina & Alex chat about how their music writing happens, particularly interesting to know how a couple who are also relatively new parents navigate the process.
Christian chats about how The Heretics came into being, and the way his musical journey has changed direction with addition of the band and three fellow collaborators.
Thank you to all of them for allowing us to play a sample of their music. From Hawksley Workman we play Battlefords, from Christina Alden & Alex Patterson we play Safe Travels (thinking of all of you travelling to Deepdale for the Festival), and from Christian Smith & The Heretics we play Revelry.

In this episode Jason chats with Kathryn Williams and Dan Willson (aka Withered Hand), who perform on Friday. With Polly Paulusma, who performs on Sunday. And with Jess Silk, who also performs on Sunday.
Kathryn and Dan are a relatively new collaboration, two superb musicians who have loved creating together. They recorded their album in Edinburgh, and Dan is wandering those streets while he chats to Jason. The album recording was just before Kathryn chatted on this podcast last year, the album is now in the world, and their set at Deepdale Festival is part of their busy Autumn schedule.
Polly who has also joined Jason on the Deepdale Podcast previously, has just reached a huge milestone with fundraising to develop a triple vinyl album.
