Looking again at Saul the first king of Israel. As we read through the first book of Samuel starting at chapter 8 we see that there is a picture of not only the heart of Saul, Samuel but also of all Israel. Yes a Nation has a “heart” … a disposition, it has a burden, it has objectives, lusts and desires.

So a Nation can have a heart for God or against Him. We will also be examining some of the aspects of the heart of Israel also.

Jacob had a revelation of God in the night when he fled from his brother Esau. When confronted with that revelation Jacob made an admission, I need God on His terms. 

Who we are in God has to be understood and yielded to, or our life will be an empty shell … worse than that we will fill our life with worthless things because we don’t have the operation and guidance of The Spirit of God.

Part 5. The Heart - Heart Check (2)

The heart that is overwhelmed.

There are times when our circumstances become so overwhelming that we drift away from the confidence we have in God.

Because our circumstances are the opposite of what we dreamed of, hoped for and prayed for, that’s when fear, anxiety and depression comes in like a flood.

What is the answer in these times? … the psalmist gives us a clue in Psalm 116.

Part 2. The Desire of the Heart.

David in Psalm 51 and verse 10 cries out to God “… create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Engulfed in guilt and realising the depths he has fallen to.

God provides cleansing from our sin which goes to the very heart and cause of it. We are cleansed not just forgiven, when we are washed we are made clean but when we’re cleansed we are set free.
