Part 10. Heart Check, Saul, David and Solomon. 1 Samuel chapters 16 - 28.

In this episode we look at the effects of Saul’s sustained anger and hatred towards David. Saul’s unwillingness to reject the feelings of animosity lead him progressively down a dark path that ultimately took his life.

Stepping back from the narrative of Saul and David we will look at how to apply Scriptural principles that will guide us in keeping our hearts protected.

Part 9. Heart Check, Governance of The Spirit.

Acts chapter 17, 1 Samuel chapter 17

In this episode we look at different heart conditions. In particular Saul the reluctant king of Israel and the  young David … soon to be king. Delving into what the Scriptures say about each background of these two kings, we come to a conclusion regarding the states of their hearts.

Part 8. Saul, Human heart in Leadership -

Ecclesiastes 7:8, 1 Samuel 8, 9:2

Looking again at Saul the first king of Israel. As we read through the first book of Samuel starting at chapter 8 we see that there is a picture of not only the heart of Saul, Samuel but also of all Israel. Yes a Nation has a “heart” … a disposition, it has a burden, it has objectives, lusts and desires.

So a Nation can have a heart for God or against Him. We will also be examining some of the aspects of the heart of Israel also.

Part 7. Saul, The midget Monarch - The heart of a Nation and of a Man (Deut 17)

Like Israel, the Church has been called in privilege and honour, God’s merciful Grace has come upon us, we have been “born again” into the Kingdom of God - But if not careful we can become lax and presume on the calling of God.

Looking further into the deception of the heart of man.

Part 6. Nocturnal Admissions

Genesis chapter 28, John chapters 12 - 17.

Jacob had a revelation of God in the night when he fled from his brother Esau. When confronted with that revelation Jacob made an admission, I need God on His terms.

Who we are in God has to be understood and yielded to, or our life will be an empty shell … worse than that we will fill our life with worthless things because we don’t have the operation and guidance of The Spirit of God.

In this study we continue to examine the human heart and how we can yield it to God alone.

Part 5. The Heart - Heart Check (2)

The heart that is overwhelmed.

There are times when our circumstances become so overwhelming that we drift away from the confidence we have in God.

Because our circumstances are the opposite of what we dreamed of, hoped for and prayed for, that’s when fear, anxiety and depression comes in like a flood.

What is the answer in these times? … the psalmist gives us a clue in Psalm 116.

Part 4. The Heart - Heart Check (1) The preservation and protection of our soul is largely our responsibility, God does a miraculous work in us by His Spirit, but it’s up to us to abide in Christ. Proverbs 4 and verse 23 admonishes us to “… guard (keep) your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.”

In this episode we discuss “how to” guard our hearts.

Part 3. The Heart - Good Heart, Bad Heart.

Looking at the heart of man, the Bible says “ … out of the heart are the issues of life …” Everything that we want, desire, everything we do, think and feel,  one’s out of our heart, the very source of our whole being.

We look further into the Scriptures about the transformation of the human heart.

Part 2. The Desire of the Heart.

David in Psalm 51 and verse 10 cries out to God “… create in me a clean heart, O God and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Engulfed in guilt and realising the depths he has fallen to.

God provides cleansing from our sin which goes to the very heart and cause of it. We are cleansed not just forgiven, when we are washed we are made clean but when we’re cleansed we are set free.
