In a digital age that praises bare bottoms, foreign cars, and the “perfect” aesthetic, more and more people are subconsciously being conditioned to think that in order to be “accepted” in this world, we have to abide by societies shallow set of standards, when it comes to dating, living, and well—being human. In the process, many are losing a sense of self and individuality to fit the bill. While societies efforts to dwindle our sense of self may be resilient, sometimes we have to look within and ask ourselves, are we (really) subconsciously falling prey to an impractical standard of “humaning” or are we simply just choosing to be shallow? Challenging these set of superficial standards, and swimming against the current, takes guts, willpower, and a lot self reflection. It takes connecting with your soul, and disconnecting from the ego. Becoming in tune with the facets of your being that makes you, you—that makes you whole.
