Well, I used to be a stage actress…and since I stopped that cosplaying was the next closest thing to my interests. I often cosplay characters I have the personality of or just characters I fall in love with from any media. I love seeing the sparkle in peoples’ eyes when they see some of their favorite characters come to life.

I started cosplaying because I was interested in people who dressed up as the anime characters. I started asking one of them how to be a cosplayer, then I continued to search around for shops where I could buy wigs, costumes, and stuff.

Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Taryn, but I go by Terra or my cosplay alias, Reya Skye. Not to sound like a hipster, but I'm from a small town you've probably never heard of in the panhandle of Florida. It's been an interesting journey cosplaying because in my town there wasn't and still isn't an Anime Club in high school so I've always just done my own thing.

My name is Deanty. I am 17 years old, an Indonesian cosplayer. I lived in Jakarta, Indonesia with my family. I’m still a beginner in cosplaying and need help for it...one day, my friend said to me that she wanted to cosplay, and I wanted to try cosplay too! I didn't know what character I should cosplay, because I wear Hijab, so my friend gave me a picture of Hatsune Miku in Hijab that she got from DeviantArt.

Well, I cringed, and I complained, but not so much because this was a bad anime in the sense that Sparrow's Hotel is a bad anime—it was more because of the number of creepy and extremely controversial elements found within the series. Basically, it’s the Twilight of anime.
